Aluko & Oyebode is pleased to have advised on a landmark Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, and Medipool Nigeria Limited to establish a first-of-its-kind Group Purchasing Organisation in Nigeria. The initiative is designed to reduce the cost of essential medicines and expand access to quality healthcare nationwide, in line with key national priorities under the Presidential Initiative to Unlock the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC).

The Concession Agreement was signed on 16 February 2026, and we advised the private partner on the full concession process under the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission Act, including the review, negotiation, and execution of the Concession Agreement.

According to Mr. Caleb, “Medipool represents a new PPP model for the pooled procurement of essential medicines for Nigeria’s public health system. By aggregating demand across public facilities, the Project has the potential to improve price efficiency, strengthen supply reliability, and expand access to critical medicines nationwide. If successfully implemented at scale, it could establish a landmark PPP model for healthcare procurement in Nigeria. We were pleased to support the Medipool team alongside key federal public sector stakeholders on this pioneering initiative.”
