About
Reginald Udom is Co-Head of the Firm’s Banking & Finance Practice and former Managing Partner. He advises sponsors, lenders, development finance institutions, issuers, underwriters and borrowers on complex cross-border financings and strategic transactions across the energy, infrastructure and financial services sectors.
With more than 24 years of experience, Reginald has led some of the most significant financings and restructurings in Nigeria, including LNG, upstream and midstream oil and gas projects, rail infrastructure, gas developments, real estate projects and acquisition financings. He is particularly recognised for advising on transactions involving multiple jurisdictions and complex project structures.
He holds an LL.B from the University of Lagos and an LL.M from University College London and is admitted to the Nigerian Bar. He has completed executive programmes including the Leadership Programme at Yale University, the International Bar Association Academy for Leaders at King’s College London, the EC Africa Programme at Columbia University and the Law Firm Leadership Programme led by Professor David B. Wilkins of Harvard Law School.

BANKING & FINANCE (Energy, Infrastructure and Project Finance)
- Advised sponsors on the development of two LNG trains and related port and marine infrastructure.
- Advised a syndicate of international banks and a development finance institution on a US$300 million facility to the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the Kano-Maradi cross-border standard gauge railway project.
- Advised a syndicate of international lenders on the US$1.8 billion financing of four deepwater drilling vessels for two international oil companies.
- Advised sponsors on the NNPC/MPN Natural Gas Liquids Project.
- Acted as Nigerian counsel to Vitol and Helios on the restructuring of legacy indebtedness associated with the acquisition of Oando’s downstream business.

- Advised lenders on the financing, revamp and recommissioning of a major gas processing facility, including bankability reviews of key project contracts.

- Led the Nigerian aspects of a US$25 million export credit agency financing for infrastructure works within the Eko Atlantic City development.
- Advised a strategic investor on the acquisition of a controlling interest in the project company responsible for the development and operation of the Edo Radisson Hotel as well as on project completion issues including branding and management arrangements with Radisson.
- Advised on a US$70 million financing for a landmark retail and shopping mall development in Lagos.
- Advised a lender syndicate on an US$85 million financing for the development of a steel manufacturing facility in Ogun State.
- Advised a syndicate of local and international lenders on a €225 million multicurrency financing for the development of a 5,000 tonnes-per-day clinker production plant in Ogun State.
